Waffles for a good cause

Some of the first year apprentices of the GEDIA company, together with their commercial apprenticeship management have started their first project - a fundraising campaign. They wanted to bake waffles in the in-house apprenticeship workshop. The complete organisation and implementation was carried out independently by the apprentices.

On the 11th of December 2019 they baked the waffles and distributed them to all interested employees. All GEDIAns supported the campaign with a voluntary donation. At the end of the day the collected 850€. The apprentices decided to donate for the Haus Mutter Anna in Attendorn – a house community for people with dementia.

Thankful and with pleasure they received the donation. Uli Mertens, the manager of Caritas Attendorn, and his staff informed the apprentices on site about the special features of the facility, answered questions and then also offered a house tour. The donation will be used to buy therapy dolls. They are intended to help the residents eliminate inner and motor uncertainty and thus become more emotionally and communicatively accessible. In addition, the physical and psychological well-being is meant to be improved.

After an interesting and emotional visit, the trainees decided to repeat the campaign next year. They would like to continue supporting therapy measures and sensitize more people to the topic of dementia patients.
