Cookies and server log-files

The GEDIA Gebrüder Dingerkus GmbH internet sites utilise cookies. Cookies are text files that are placed on a computer system via an internet browser and stored there.

Many internet sites and servers use cookies. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is the unique identification of the cookie. It consists of a series of characters that enables internet sites and servers to be identified with the specific internet browser where the cookie has been stored. This makes it possible for the visited internet sites and serves to distinguish the personal browser of the specific person from other internet browsers that contain other cookies. A specific internet browser can be recognised and identified by the unique cookie ID.

By using cookies, GEDIA Gebrüder Dingerkus GmbH can provide more user-friendly services to the internet sites’ visitors than would be possible without setting cookies.

The information and services on our internet site can be optimised in the interest of the users with cookies. As mentioned above, cookies make it possible for us to recognise the visitors to our internet site. The purpose of this recognition is to simplify the visitors’ use of our internet site. Users of an internet site that utilises cookies do not need, for example, to re-enter their login data for every visit to the internet site because this action is carried out by the internet site and the cookie that has been stored on the users’ computer systems. Another example is the cookie for a shopping cart in the online shop. The online shop utilises a cookie to keep track of the products a customer has placed in the virtual shopping cart.

Visitors can at any time prevent our internet site from installing cookies by going to the settings of their internet browsers and permanently blocking cookies. Moreover, any cookies that have been installed can be deleted at any time by an internet browser or other software programs. This is possible in all of the internet browsers commonly in use. If users disable the setting of cookies in their internet browsers, this may result in their being unable to utilise all of the functions of our internet site completely.

For technical reasons, so-called server log files are created. In these files, the hosting provider stores technical data (e.g. browser type and browser version, operating system used, time of request, IP address, etc.) which the browser automatically transmits to the hosting provider. These data are not merged with other data, so that a personal reference is not possible.

Purpose of data collection

We collect personal data solely if you volunteer this information, e.g. when registering for our supplier portal or taking part in a survey. Data are entered in the areas described below.

Contact form

Anyone interested in GEDIA and our products can use the contact form to send queries directly to us. Moreover, the internet site contains information required by statutory regulations (e.g. in the section Legal Information) that enables you to contact our company quickly by electronic means (e.g. via email address). Whenever you contact us by email or by using the contact form, the personal data you have entered are automatically stored. Any such personal data submitted voluntarily are used for processing the query or contacting the data subject. These personal data are not transferred to third parties outside the group. If the request concerns a company of the group, your data will be transmitted to this company for the purpose of processing your request. If this company is located outside Germany, your data may also be transferred to the respective country for this purpose.

Supplier portal

The supplier portal gives suppliers and service providers the opportunity to participate in queries and tenders at GEDIA or at one of its affiliates. In this case, the data may be transferred to third parties within the corporate group (including those outside of Germany). You will find detailed information in the terms and conditions of use for the supplier portal.

Job application

There is a separate privacy declaration in each of the relevant sections describing our use of personal data during the job application process.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service offered by Google, Inc. (“Google”)., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Responsible body is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Irland. Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. As a rule, the information regarding your use of this website generated by the cookie is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If, however, IP anonymisation is enabled on this website, Google abbreviates your IP address within the member states of the European Union or in other states which are parties to the treaty on the European Economic Area before transmitting them. The full IP address is transferred to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there only in exceptional cases. Google, acting on behalf of the operator of this website, uses the collected information to evaluate your activities on the website, to compile reports about the website activities and to perform further services related to the use of the website and the internet for the website operator. The IP addresses your browser provides within the scope of Google Analytics are not merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your browser software; however, we expressly point out to you that doing so may prevent you from being able to use all of the functions on this site in their full scope. Moreover, you can prevent the disclosure of the data generated by the cookie and related to your activities on the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of these data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in from the following link (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Details about this procedure can be found at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or at support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245 (general information about Google Analytics and privacy). We wish to point out that Google Analytics on this website has been expanded by the addition of the code „ga('set', 'anonymizeIp', true);“ to ensure the anonymised collection of your IP addresses (so-called IP masking).

The data collected via Google Analytics are deleted after 14 month.

social media pages

We provide social media pages in order to communicate with interested parties and users and to inform them about us.

User data can be processed by the service provider outside the European Union. This can result in risks for the users, because it could, for example, make it more difficult to enforce the rights of the users.

Generally the service provider uses user data for market research and advertising purposes. For example, user interests resulting from usage behavior can be used, for example, to place advertisements inside and outside the platforms that could correspond to the interests of users. Cookies are usually stored on the user's computer for this purpose. In addition, data can also be stored in the user profiles independently of the devices used (especially if the users are members of the respective platforms and are logged in).

In the following, we will inform you about the processing of your personal data collected within the social media pages carried out by us. In its decision of 5 June 2018, the European Court of Justice confirmed the joint responsibility of the service providers and the site operator.

The social media page you visit offers you the opportunity to react to our contributions, to comment on them, to create your own post and to send us private messages with personal concerns. The data provided by you in this context and which may be accessible to us (e.g. user name, pictures, interests, contact data) will be used by us exclusively for the purpose of customer and interest communication. Our interest is to offer a platform on which we can display current information and on which you can address your request to us and we can respond to your request as quickly as possible.

We do not carry out any further data processing other than the basic functions using the site. Please note that the service provider can use tracking tools and cookies without us being able to influence this.

For a detailed description of the respective processing and the opt-out options, we refer to the following linked information of the providers.

Also in the case of information inquiries and the assertion of user rights, we point out that these can be asserted most effectively with the providers. Only the providers have access to the data of the users and can directly take appropriate measures and give information. Should you nevertheless need help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

YouTube

On our website we use components (videos) of the company YouTube, LLC 901 Cherry Ave, 94066 San Bruno, CA, USA, a company of Google Inc., Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Responsible body is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland).

We use the option " - extended data protection mode - " provided by YouTube.

When you visit a page that has an embedded video, it connects to the YouTube servers and displays the content by notifying your browser.

According to YouTube, by using the "- extended data protection mode -" data is only transmitted to the YouTube server when you watch the video. If you are logged in to YouTube at the same time, this information will be associated with your YouTube account. You can prevent this by logging out of your account before using our application.

More information about YouTube's privacy practices is provided by Google at the following link: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy

Use of Google Fonts

In order to display our content correctly and graphically appealing across browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. Google Web Fonts are transferred to the cache of your browser to avoid multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Web Fonts or does not allowe access, content will be displayed in a default font.

Calling script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the library operator. It is theoretically possible that operators of such libraries collect data.

The privacy policy of the library operator Google (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States. Responsible authority is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrows St. Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland) can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Legal basis for processing

Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR serves our company as the legal basis for the processing activities for which we obtain consent for a specific processing purpose. If personal data must be processed for the purpose of carrying out a contract to which the data subject is a party, as is necessary, for instance, during transaction processing, the supply of goods or the performance of any other service or counter-performance, the processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR. The same provision applies to any processing steps required for the performance of actions prior to the conclusion of a contact such as responding to queries about our products or services. If our company is subject to a legal obligation that requires the processing of personal data (e.g. compliance with tax obligations), the processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR.

Term for which the personal data are stored

The criterion for the term of the storage of personal data is the statutory retention period for the specific data. Upon expiration of the period, the data are routinely deleted, provided they are no longer required for the execution or initiation of a contract.

If you send us an e-mail using the contact form, your e-mails will be received by the relevant mailboxes and archived there indefinitely.
