Temperbox® technology is an advanced method of forming metal body components. The technology makes it possible to specifically influence and optimize the mechanical properties of body parts in order to meet increasing requirements for safety, weight savings and energy efficiency. GEDIA is successfully using this technology.
The core of the Temperbox ® technology is the controlled heating of component areas in the press hardening process. With this patented process, GEDIA offers new possibilities for equipping body structural parts with different strength zones even more flexibly and precisely. The part blank is heated to approx. 950 C in the first oven. It is then transported to a second oven, the TemperBox ®. By means of cover templates, different temperature areas are set in the blank. The blank is then transported into the die, formed and cooled. The result is different hardness zones in one component, separated by narrow transition areas.
